Taking a pH and Moisture Measurement Using the ICZD06 Soil pH and Moisture Tester

The ICZD06 Soil pH and Moisture Tester is a portable, rugged meter designed to make testing soil simple. With no pre-calibration or batteries required and a 30cm long probe that's capable of taking measurements at different depths, you will find this meter is perfect home gardens, classroom experiments, and applications in the agricultural sector.

Figure 1 Watch an Instrument Choice unbox and demonstrate how to take a measurement using the ICZD06 Moisture and Soil pH Tester here.

How to Measure pH and moisture Using the ICZD06 Moisture and Soil pH Tester

Measurement Note:

We draw your attention to the white button on the keypad. When this button is not depressed, the meter defaults to the pH measurement scale. When you press the button, your display will show readings on a moisture scale. The top of the analogue dial is the pH scale, and the bottom dial is the moisture level in 0-8 degrees, with 0 being dry and 8 being wet.

Taking pH Measurements

  1. Push the probe to the desired depth of soil.
  2. Leave the probe in the soil for ten minutes for the meter to stabilise your reading.
  3. Once the meter has achieved a stable reading, take the pH measurement off the top pH scale.
  4. Remove the probe from the soil after taking your pH measurement.

Taking Moisture Measurements

  1. Push the probe to the desired depth of soil.
  2. Press in the white button and the meter will change to moisture measurement mode.
  3. With the white button depressed, record your moisture measurement.
  4. Remove the probe from the soil after taking a measurement.

Accuracy Restoration

  1. This pH tester does not have a calibration function. To restore the ICZD06's accuracy, with a gentle action, remove any oxidation that has formed on the probe using fine-grade sandpaper.

Conclusion

The ICZD06 is a battery-free, moisture, and soil pH tester. Instrument Choice scientists love this instrument's robust and easy-to-use design.

Follow the steps outlined above and demonstrated in the video, and you will discover how easy it is to take accurate pH measurements at different depths of soil.
