Apogee Pyranometers incorporate a silicon-cell photodiode that measures total shortwave radiation. The MP-100 has a sensor integrated into the top of the housing while the handheld meter displays and stores measurements. Total shortwave radiation is an important component in determining evapo-transipration rates, energy balance, net radiation as well as monitoring solar power panels.
