How to Set up the Testo 105-1 Robust Food Thermometer (IC-0563-1051)

The Testo 105 is a robust, ergonomically-designed food thermometer for measuring the temperature of semi-solid substances. This thermometer conforms to HACCP International and EN 13485 standards, so it's ideal for restaurants, coolrooms, freezers, industrial kitchens, supermarkets, and incoming goods inspection points.

How to Set up the Testo 105-1 Robust Food Thermometer (IC-0563-1051)

BATTERIES

  1. Find the battery cavity at the base of the unit. Locate the finger tabs and pull to open the tray.
  2. Observing their polarity, insert the four included LR44 batteries into the battery tray.
  3. Reinsert the tray and press the power button to turn on. The current temperature reading will appear on the screen.

    HOLD FUNCTION

  4. With Auto Hold turned on, 'AUTO HOLD' blinks on the screen (to turn off see Settings mode below). Once the reading is stable within a fixed time duration, it will be frozen.
  5. In auto-hold, to restart the measurement press ON/HOLD. At any time, while the device is reading, press the hold button to override auto hold and pause the current measurement on the screen. Pressing again will resume auto-hold reading.

    SETTING ALARM LIMITS

  6. Pressing the up arrow once displays the current upper alarm value.
  7. On this screen, press the up and down arrows to adjust to the desired alarm value. Once selected, press the ON/HOLD button to return to measurement mode.
  8. Pressing the down arrow once displays the current lower alarm value.
  9. On this screen, repeat the same as with the upper value. Press the up and down arrows to adjust to the desired alarm value. Once the alarm value is selected, press ON/HOLD to return to measurement mode.

    SETTINGS MODE

  10. To enter the settings options, start with the device off. Then, press and hold the ON/HOLD button. There are six options.
    1. Temperature scale. Press the up arrow to cycle between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F). Press the ON/HOLD button to confirm.
    2. Switch Auto Hold on (ON) or off (OFF). Press the up arrow to cycle through options and press the ON/HOLD button to confirm.
    3. This option is only is auto hold is switched on. It is a set time duration between 5, 10, 15, and 20 seconds at which the temperature reading has to be stable (change lower than 0.2°C) for it to be frozen. Press the up arrow to select and the ON/HOLD button to confirm.
    4. This option is switching the sound on (ON) or off (OFF). Press the up arrow to cycle through options and press the ON/HOLD button to confirm.
    5. Backlight; Select between (ON) or off ( OFF). Press the up arrow to cycle through options and press the ON/HOLD button to confirm.
    6. The last setting is to turn auto-off on (ON) or off (OFF). Keeping this on is aids in battery life conservation. Press the up arrow to cycle through options and press the ON/HOLD button to confirm.
  11. The set up is complete.
