The meat processing industry must monitor the pH of its products accurately because pH impacts several quality factors such as water-binding capacity, shelf life, colour, and tenderness. While the IC-HI981036 meat pH tester is the perfect tool for pH monitoring, keeping your meter calibrated is the key to ensuring continuously accurate results.
How to Calibrate the IC-HI981036 Meat pH Tester
Calibration frequency depends on your frequency of use and the required accuracy. If you are using a meter every day and need highly accurate results, you should calibrate daily before use. If you only use your meter a couple of times a week, weekly calibrations may be suitable. For improved accuracy, the Instrument Choice Scientists recommend calibrating to two buffer points. For the IC-HI981036, this is pH7.01 and pH4.01.
- Press the button to turn the meter on and remove the electrode storage cap.
- To enter calibration mode, press and hold the button until ‘CAL’ appears on the screen. When ‘CAL’ is on the LCD screen, release the button.
- While pH7.01 is blinking on the LCD screen immerse in the same buffer solution. The hourglass stability indicator will flash on the screen as the device is calibrating.
- When complete, the hourglass will disappear, and the next calibration point pH4.01 will appear and be flashing on the screen.
- Repeating the same method as with the first buffer, immerse the meter in pH4.01 and wait. The hourglass will blink on the screen as it is stabilising.
- When the second buffer is complete, the calibration data will automatically save. ‘Sto’ will display on the screen.
- The meter will then automatically exit the calibration mode and return to measurement mode.
