How to Calibrate the IC-HI981030 GroLine Soil pH Tester

How to Calibrate the IC-HI981030 GroLine Soil pH Tester

You will need to regularly calibrate your GroLine Soil pH tester to ensure it performs to the highest possible level of accuracy. Instrument Choice Scientists recommend a minimum of two-point calibration. Calibration is straightforward. Learn how to follow the seven steps in this video demonstration and know your meter will collect accurate soil pH measurements every time!

Figure 1 Watch an Instrument Choice demonstrate how to calibrate the IC-HI981030 GroLine Soil pH Tester here.

How to Calibrate the IC-HI981030 GroLine Soil pH Tester

Items Required

  • IC-HI981030 GroLine Soil pH Tester
  • pH 4.01 Calibration Buffer Solution
  • pH 7.01 Calibration Buffer Solution
  • Distilled Water
  • Three clean containers

Method

  1. Add pH4.01, pH7.01, and distilled water to the three clean containers. Do not mix or dilute solutions. There should be enough of each solution to submerge the electrode around 2.5cm.
  2. Turn on the device. To enter calibration mode, press and hold the button until 'CAL' appears on the screen. Release and the meter will automatically request the first buffer solution of pH7.01.
  3. Immerse the electrode in the pH 7.01 buffer solution. The stability indicator will blink as the calibration occurs.
  4. When the reading is stable, the stability indicator will disappear, and the pH 7.01 calibration is complete.
  5. The device will automatically move on, and the LCD will display the next required solution of pH 4.01.
  6. Quickly rinse in the container of distilled water then, immerse in pH 4.01. The value is automatically recognised, and as the calibration occurs, the stability indicator will blink.
  7. When the reading is stable, the stability indicator will disappear. "Sto" will appear on the meter's display to indicate the saving of your calibration.
  8. After saving, the meter will exit the calibration mode and return to measurement mode. The calibration tags will display at the top row of the LCD.
  9. Calibration is complete. Rinse in distilled water, and the meter is ready to take a measurement!

Conclusion

Perform calibration periodically to ensure your device is collecting the most accurate measurements possible.
